Getting to know each other...

Hey... Everyone out in Blog Land...

Now that I have two dogs... it is time to get them used to each other and to their new life...

So in July of 2011 we went to the park a lot...!!!!

Having two young dogs.... they need lots of room to play and rough house...

Here are some shots of the kids playing....  at our local parks...

Most of the pictures I take of the kids they are looking at something else.... no matter how I try to get them to look at me and the camera.... they do look at me for about a second and when I hit the button to get a great shot.... They turn their heads.... ugh....

Here is Daphne being a brat...  the first week or so.... she kept trying to be the dominate dog in the family....   She never hurt him put she sure would nip at him... she just kept pushing him around at the park.... at home I would not let her do that.... it took about a week and then Thor was pushing her around... and now he runs the house...

This is a week later.... and as you can see Daphne is not picking on Thor... they are having fun with a new friend that they made at the park....

Here they are just loving life.... and playing together....

So now we are a family....

Life is Great....

How Thor came to live with us...

Well...  as you all know... I have two Great Danes... and as you have seen from my last blog... Daphne has been with me since she was 11 weeks old...

Thor came to live with us when he was almost 10 months old... He joined my family on July 17, 2011...

Thor's first family was nice enough to send me some of his baby pictures...  look how cute he is....!!!

Just look at that "Baby" face....

I just love it.... Look at the "Baby Tummy".....

This last picture is my favorite.... just love that view.....

Thor's original family live in Vacaville, which is just about 30 miles below Sacramento California...

In June of 2011, when "BIG" Jake passed away we were looking for another Great Dane for my Boss, we saw Thor's picture on the internet and arranged to come and adopt him...  Samantha volunteered to make the 16 hour trip to get Thor...  She took off on Friday night and brought Thor back on Sunday aftwernoon...

OK... here is the sad part but "NOT" sad for me...  Thor was coming here to live with my Boss, and my Boss takes his dog with him everywhere...  For the last 10 years Jake went with him to other companies... to friends houses... to jobsites.... just everywhere...  and to his twice a week massage sessions...  the Masseuse has a German Shepherd who was great friends with Jake... They grew up together...  Well... When my Boss went to introduce Thor to Dakota... Dakota would not let Thor in the massage area...  Dakota threatened Thor that he better not come around again... So my Boss did not want to stress Dakota or have Thor hurt as he would be going there often.... so he called me up and told me that Thor was mine...  so that is the "NOT" sad part.... Thor came to be part of my family...

This was the plan from the beginning...  We as a group were going to adopt Thor... My Boss; Samantha; and myself...  If he did not work out with my Boss and his family then Samantha or I were going to bring him into our homes...  and I "WON"....

Here is Thor at the office....  He looks a little unsure... but this was his first day there...

He fit right in with everyone... but... being that I had not had time to train him to not go near the gate... on the third day at the office Thor decided it would be fun to see what was on the other side of the fence... well.... that made it so that he and Daphne could not come back to the office anymore... not great but we adjusted.... so now they keep each other company at home...  Not as much fun.... but they are safe...

Here are some pictures of one of our fist trip to the park....

Well, just wanted to introduce you to Thor...

My next blog will start showing you what the "Fur" Kids do in their spare time...

Until then... be safe...

Watching Daphne Grow....

Hey Everyone....

This is a blog to share the "Life and Times" of my Fur Kids...

So here is what it looks to raise a Great Dane...

Daphne was born on February 21, 2010....

Daphne was born in Lancaster California and I went with Susan Ward; Samantha Welch; and Travis Welch to pick her up...  I was so excited to go get her that I passed the house that we were supposed to stop at 2 or 3 times before Samantha told me .... slow down so we can see the house numbers and stop the car...  ha..ha... just a little excited...

She was 11 weeks old and 26 pounds when we brought her home....

As you can see.... she is not that big at this point.... that is Oreo in front of her... He is a Pomeranian / Boston Terrier... She was only small for a couple of months...  If you ware wondering how big she was at this age... she is the same size as a Cocker Spaniel... that's a full grown Cocker Spaniel...

She was so cute....  as you can see... her first collar did not fit well... ha..ha... I wanted to get one that she could grow into... it only took her about a week to have it fit better...

This is how she fell asleep that first night.... and she still falls a sleep this same way today...  she will lay across my lap now and rest for about a minute then she will go and lay on her bed for the rest of the night...

Look at that face.... How could I not bring her home with me...

This is Daphne meeting the Cooley's and BIG Jake....

Here we are at work.... she is now 5 months old and around 55 pounds...

This is Jake showing her the ropes....  explaining to her that they patrol the fence line and then come back to the office...

Now for a nap under the desk.... this is at work... unitl she was two years old... I could take her to work with me every day...  That changed when I got Thor... that is a story for another day...

This is her getting a little too big for the small dog bed...

Jake and her patrolling again at work...

Here she is trying to steal Jake's bed at work...

That's Jake's spot and she knows it....

That does not mean that she will not try and push the rules... ha..ha... she still pushes the rules all the time now...

She still fits under the desk... just has a few more toy's....

Now we are getting bigger.... not quite fitting under the desk...

And starting to not fit in the bed.... also... you can see... Oreo stayed the same size...  Daphne is much bigger now...

This bed is just not quite working....

Oh... that works.... just use part of the table ....  hmmm... well.... maybe it is time for a new bed...

OK... if one bed wont work... maybe two will be better...

Well.... that kind of works....  not quite...  ha..ha...

OK.. now we are 7 months old and around 73 pounds...  no more bed just a blanket... and Oreo is now about the size of her head... ha.. ha...

Getting big and strong like Jake...

Taking over the bed at work...

Now look who is laying on the floor and who is on the bed... ha.. ha...

Getting bigger.... getting stronger....  growing up....

Almost a BIG girl...

Still working with Jake and protecting the office...

Sweet .... Sweet... Jake....

Well, this is her at 1 year and 100 pounds....

That is how you watch a Great Dane GROW....!!!
